“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song”

– Maya Angelou

About

We are an all-female choir based in Crawley, West Sussex. With a repertoire mostly consisting of pop songs and songs from the musicals, we are known as an ‘easy listening’ choir, although we have been known to tackle other styles and even foreign languages!  The choir usually performs to backing tracks and a capella (without backing) when performing around the community, but also with live piano or other instruments in concerts.

There are currently around 35 women in Songbirds who rehearse weekly on Mondays under the direction of Joanna Eames.

Thinking of joining us?

We are always looking for new voices to join our group. If you enjoy singing, are 18 or over, and would like to become a member, please feel free to come along to one of our rehearsals. You are very welcome to watch a rehearsal if you don’t want to sing straight away! We rehearse on Monday evenings, from 8.00pm until 9.30pm, at St Mary’s Church in Wakehurst Drive, Southgate, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 6DL.

Please enjoy exploring our site and feel free to contact us for more information about what we do, or to invite us to perform.
